BPSC Prelims 2016: Expected Cut Off and Result

The 60th – 62nd BPSC Prelims examination was organized on 12th February in various centres across Bihar. The Commission had shocked candidates with a different question format. They come out with a nice, but controversial, formula to obstruct court cases by inducting one more option. All questions had a fifth option declaring none of the above option is correct or more than one is correct. Obviously, this has also confused aspirants as there was now no point of going for the best possible guess.

However, there are other stuffs also which need to be considered while thinking about cut offs. The first one is number of candidates going to be selected. The BPSC has clearly mentioned in the notification that they will select around 10 times candidate. Since, they are yet to release previous Mains result; hence they may select around 11 – 12 times candidates. Further, there will also be reservation for women which may have big impact on cut off.

Expected Cut OFF of BPSC Prelims

Keeping everything in mind, let us come to a conclusion. In 2015, this place had predicted cut off for BPSC as 87 – 88, which turned out to be true. We hope to repeat our performance again.

First, let us keep off two main factors aside – women reservation and number of seats – and try to see what might have been cut off with five options. Ask any expert, and you may find the same answer – the cut off would have been 75 – 77 for General and subsequently lower for other category.

Now, the other important thing is number of candidates. This time it is far much less than what was in 2015. Only 2.68 lakhs application was received and around 60 % appeared in the examination. It means this time the number of candidates appeared in the Prelims is around 1 lakh less than what was in 2015.

There is another important point which everyone is missing. MPPSC did a sort of coupe to keep off Bihari students out. MPPSC exam was scheduled to be held on 10th February. All of a sudden, they postponed it on 12th February. True, candidates from MP seldom come to Bihar for State PCS. However, the factor of UP candidates will come into picture. It is believed that around 70 % of UP candidates who had filled the form for BPSC didn’t come because of this MPPSC factor – particularly young candidates (the age in MPPSC for outside candidates). It will also have an impact on the overall cut off.

And, there is also no denying that even with four options, the question level of this year was tough than what was there in 2015.

Keeping all these facts in mind, we have come out with cut off which should also be close to the final cut off that you will see in the result.

For General (Male): 82 – 84 (Many can accuse us of predicting such a low cut off in spite of only 10 times results and women reservation, but it is the case folk!)
we have mentioned the reason above, why the cut off will be low.

The cut off for other category will be lower in the same range at it was in 2015 BPSC Prelims.

One more thing, we are unable to write anything about cut off for female aspirants. It is really tough and we don’t have any history to have any idea.
