Gaurav Goyal is an IAS officer of 2006 batch of Rajasthan Cadre. He is widely regarded as one of the best performing civil servants of India. He has done marvelous work as Collector of Barmer where he single handedly transformed a draught prone area with proper implementation of MGNREGA. In fact, proponent of this employment scheme name Gaurav and Barmer as an example of the power of MGNREGA. Only recently, he was awarded by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his stupendous work during the demonetization phase and making Ajmer one of the top five districts in the country in adopting and adapting cashless/digital transactions.
Gaurav Goyal came into the news in 2006 not just because of cracking UPSC Civil Services Examination, but also because of doing so at a very young age.
Profile of Gaurav Goyal
Gaurav Goyal was born in 1984 in Sikar to Mr. Ramesh and Ranjana Goyal. He did schooling from Vidya Bharti Public School, Sikar and later did Intermediate from the prestigious Birla Public School, Pilani. He took admission in Kirorimal College, Delhi University from where he has done B. Com. He has also taken M.S degree with Financial Management. He worked with a big investment company for few months and was planning to go to the USA when his mother asked him to stay here in India. That’s when Gaurav decided to try his hand at Civil Services Exam.
Guarav started preparation for UPSC Civil Services during his final years at Delhi University. The environment of North Campus was already there to motivate him. He worked hard and cracked the prestigious exam in his very first attempt. He had secured All India Rank of 10. Needless to say, Gaurav Goyal was the youngest officer of his batch.

There is no denying that Gaurav Goyal is a popular personality not only in Rajasthan, but throughout India. Youngsters look forward to him for inspiration. Unfortunately, there is very little information available in the public domain about the personal life of Gaurav Goyal. We only know that Gaurav Goyal is married and has two sons. He is living in Ajmer with wife and sons.
