H. Basavarajendra is one of the most upright and honest KAS officers of Karnataka. He is widely regarded as a person who has never compromised in his duty. He is incorruptible to the core.
Basavarajendra was recently in news for his letter written to the Governor, Chief Secretary of Karnataka and State Human Rights Commission regarding the pressure he had to bear in falsely implicating Yeddiyurappa in the denotification scam.
Mr. Basavarajendra is currently working as the Deputy Secretary to the Mines Investigation Cell. He was special land acquisition officer when he got a call from the DySP of ACB forcing him to name Yeddiyurappa in the scam.
The corrupt DySP in question is Mr. Balaji.
The DySP was dictating his typist to write letter in the name of Basavarajendra.
When Basavarajendra disagreed to sign the letter, he was threatened that a case will be lodged against him. His name has already been sent to the UPSC for promotion to the IAS and hence a case against him will mean that he won’t become an IAS officer.
But, Basavarajendra, being an honest officer didn’t relent. A case has already been filed against him. He may not become an IAS at least till this Congress Government will remain in power. But, he will be remembered as an officer who remained honest despite threats and lures.
