Nishant Tiwary is a 2005 Indian Police Service (IPS) officer of Bihar cadre. He is one of the most awarded police officers in the history of Bihar. Known for being an officer with kind heart and no nonsense attitude in policing, he has always given challenging appointments. Nitish Kumar has praised him at many times for his ability to control crimes without a single case of extra judicial killing or encounter. He was one of many officers who brought Bihar away from Lalu’s Jungle Raj during 2005 – 10.
Apart from a brave police officer, Nishant has also written books on ancient culture of Bihar (a Photo Book, indeed). He has also been praised for a noble endeavor to teach children of migrant laborers in the evening. During the crisis of flood in 2017, he worked overtime in Purnea to ensure safety to the people as well as helping NDRF in providing relief to people in distress.

Educational Qualification: He did schooling from Netarhat Vidyalaya. He was the Bihar state topper in 1995 in matriculation examination. After 12th, he took admission in Delhi College of Engineering for B. Tech (Computer Science). Post engineering, he went to the US and worked in an MNC for four years.
